A still life painting is a piece that features an arrangement of inanimate objects as its subject. Usually, these items are set on a table and often include organic objects like fruit and flowers and household items like glassware like flower vase ,glass and textiles. One of the first steps of simple drawings is mastering the art of drawing shapes. The cube, the cylinder, and the sphere are the fundamental shapes an artist must learn in order to achieve a deeper understanding of all forms when learning to draw and than learn to draw household object’s shape. Then they learn shading techniques and apply on it and learn still life.
Hatching is an artistic technique used to create tonal or shading effects by drawing closely spaced parallel lines. It is especially important in essentially linear media, such as drawing, and many formsof printmaking, such as engraving.Here we will Learn still life shading by hatching
Artists use the technique, varying the length, angle, closeness and other qualities of the lines, most commonly in drawing, linear painting and engraving.
Steps for still life shading by hatching:-
1st : Shade 1st layer with 2B pencil using hatching in opposite directions of sunlight drop on flower vase.
2nd: Shade second layer with 4B or 6B pencil.
3rd: Shade background with 6B pencil
4th: Put more pressure at corners and less pressure on other parts.
5th : Now shade darker portion with 10 B pencil.
6th : Draw shadow in opposite side where sunlight falls.
7th : Add detailing and highlights.
